Who we are

Dr Laura Bond and Dr Steve Creedon, co-founders of Shine Bright Clinic

Shine Bright Clinic was set up by two close friends: Dr Laura Bond, a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, and Dr Steve Creedon. It started with a conversation after Dr Creedon was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, about what might have been different if he had known as a child. Dr Bond sees the other side of that question in her work every day: how much a clear answer at the right time can change a young person’s path, and how long many families wait for one. Together they built Shine Bright to offer thorough, consultant-led assessments without the long wait. Dr Bond leads every assessment. Dr Creedon, in a non-clinical role, runs the business so that her time and attention go to your child.

Dr Bond has a particular clinical and research interest in neurodiversity, neuroinclusion and equitable access to mental-health services for neurodivergent children and young people.

As lead author of published research examining families’ experiences of CAMHS, Dr Bond identified significant “Neuroinclusion Gaps” affecting autistic and neurodivergent young people, including diagnostic overshadowing, difficulties navigating mental-health and disability services, inadequate adaptation of interventions and limited neurodiversity-informed care.

Her research has advocated for neurodiversity-informed clinical training, individually adapted interventions and environments, improved access to mental-health care and greater inclusion of neurodivergent professionals and peer mentors within services.

Clinical approach

Dr Bond provides thorough, individualised and neuroaffirmative assessments that aim to understand the whole child rather than focusing solely on whether diagnostic criteria are met. Particular attention is given to the interaction between neurodevelopment, mental health, physical health, learning, sensory differences and the child’s experiences at home and in education.

Parents’ knowledge of their child is central to the assessment process, while children and young people are involved in a manner appropriate to their age, developmental level and communication needs. Assessment findings are explained clearly and families receive practical, individualised recommendations for home, education and ongoing clinical care.

The aim is for families to leave with a clear understanding of their child’s individual profile, strengths and needs, an evidence-based diagnostic formulation where appropriate, and a practical plan for supporting them moving forward.

Why families choose Shine Bright

Led by a consultant

Every assessment is led by Dr Bond, a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with Children’s Health Ireland who knows CAMHS from the inside.

Grounded in research

Laura’s research is about what makes child and adolescent mental health care good. That thinking shapes how we assess, report and follow up.

Dr Steve Creedon, co-founder of Shine Bright Clinic

Meet Dr Steve Creedon

Co-founder and Business Lead

Dr Steve Creedon is co-founder and Business Lead of Shine Bright Clinic. A doctor by training, he has gone on to found and run several businesses, and that is where his main expertise lies. At Shine Bright he works in a non-clinical role, leading the business so that Dr Bond can give her full attention to the children and families she sees.

Dr Creedon was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult. The diagnosis didn’t change who he is, but it changed how he understands himself, and with the right support in place everyday life became noticeably easier. It also left him with a question he kept coming back to: what would have been different if he had known as a child? That question is where Shine Bright began.

His diagnosis has also shaped his professional focus. He is currently training as an ADHD coach and in the assessment tools used for ADHD and autism, to deepen his understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions and to make sure Shine Bright is built around what children and families actually need.

Our approach

In person

We assess in person, because you learn things in a room with a child that you can’t learn on a screen.

Time to listen

We take at least two hours, because a careful history takes time. We use standardised questionnaires from home and school, because ADHD and autism show up across settings.

A detailed report

A diagnosis is only useful if it comes with a clear explanation and practical recommendations, so that’s what we write.
